Experienced academic, research, community development, and administration professional in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. My career has taken multiple trajectories across academic, business, community, and public sectors on four continents working in Canada, China, New Zealand, and Nigeria.
I have teaching, facilitation and research experiences delivering learning materials in person and online. My teaching philosophy promotes a learning model that allows mutual transfer of knowledge. I have facilitated seminars, tutorials and workshops. I also worked on group research projects that include collaboration between academic institutions in North America, Asia, and Africa. My research interests include the use of digital technology for community and civic engagement; the intersection of wellbeing, gender-based violence and mental health; policy development and implementation to address family violence and sexual violence. I’m currently working on revisiting the dark web while researching the complex intersection of GBV, CSAM and agentic AI. I also recently completed work on the importance of dissenting voices in the digital “new commons”.
In communications roles, I was responsible for creative writing, online publishing, website and social media management, special events coordination, internal and external stakeholder engagement, teaching and research, project management, crisis management, and media relations. In various administration roles, I was responsible for frontline client relationship management; forecasting, budgeting, and account reconciliation; data entry processing and management; and database management.
I have conducted research on the use of online forums by Canadians for engaging in communities during federal elections. I have also conducted case studies on the diverse representation of women in online video games, comic books and Nigerian video films. My doctoral research examined the use of digital media for community engagement. I edited a book and produced a documentary about the history of multicultural councils in New Zealand. My work has been recognized by the African Journalist Foundation, Canadian Public Relations Society, McGraw-Hill Ryerson, Niagara College and Brock University.

Through community organizations, I worked with a team of dedicated and committed staff assisting less privileged people in our communities. I was part of the campaign and development team at a shelter for abused women and children. At the end of the capital campaign, we secured a new accommodation for the organization. We awarded scholarships to committed and dedicated students who may otherwise not be able to pursue their educational goals; awarded grants to support women’s vision to run profitable businesses through which they were able to sustain themselves and their families; and provided healthcare assistance to those who were unable to access basic health services in the community. I also worked on fundraising for the education of internally displaced young women. This included organizing fundraising concerts, dinners, craft sales, and theatre production as well as advocacy campaigns organizing rallies and vigils to draw awareness to the issues.
As an elected board member, I was able to anticipate and identify issues under the organizations’ jurisdiction and facilitate the resolution at the lowest and most informal levels. I have developed strong persuasive and analytical skills from my international experience in board and governance roles within the public, private, and community sectors.

“Jumoke demonstrated, in the various capacities in which she worked for me, that she was possessed of a highly developed work ethic. She also showed that she was capable of completing quite significant projects while working under pressures of time, including competing demands on her time. As well as being highly intelligent and hardworking, Jumoke is also exceptionally responsible: she takes her work seriously, and expects others to do the same. She is also very personable, friendly and engaging.”
“Jumoke is a highly intelligent, hard working and well organised person, a good communicator, and someone who has the capacity to learn and improve herself. I strongly recommend her.”
